Creativity is one of the most interesting things in life.
It's what makes life more interesting. By expressing our creativity, we are
able to change and transform the world
around us. Without it life would be dull and uninteresting.
One thing about creativity is that it does not come on
demand, just because one wants it. One has to be inspired by someone,
something, a thought for the juices of creativity to flow. It is said that new media fosters creativity.
From the beginnings of time, people have been expressing their creativity
through art, whether it is painting, writings or music.
Today, nothing has really changed except for the new
means used to express it and the new forms of creativity. One example is a
mashup. In the article the new math of mashups, Sasha Frère-Jones
from the New Yorker magazine talks about how new music is being developed by
people just by mixing up different genres together and people love it. Mashups
find new uses for current digital technology, a new iteration of the
cause-and-effect relationship behind almost every change in pop-music
aesthetics: the gear changes, and then the music does. This is a very interesting concept
as it allows new careers to emerge as well and creates some issues with
copyrights and ownerships. However delicate the situation is, producers and lawyers
are finding ways to deal with them and even companies like Disney who used to
be very strict are getting a little more relaxed, closing an eye and allowing
people to create mashups with their characters and music as expressed by Brooks
Barnes in her article Disney Tolerates a
Rap Parody of Its Critters. But Why?
